Hi. I'm Megan.
Because I don't think writing about myself is quite narcissistic enough, I
asked people to describe what I do, an assignment from
Learning to Love You More
.
[in the order I received them]
My mom:
My daughter Megan is very smart. I really don't think she is even aware how
smart she is. She has varied interests, from reading everything she can get
her hands on, to creating original magnificent arts and crafts that are just
well magnificent! She also quite enjoys writing short essays and poems that
are truly inspirational.
My Fella:
What you do. You read, you write, you craft. You capture images on film. From
9-5 you make sure people get paid. Every weekend you decide between committing
crime or fighting crime. You look forward flying kites, going on treasure
hunts, and jumping in fresh rain puddles. You do your best to avoid sloths,
sunfish, and clowns.
My friend Angie:
I've said it a billion times before and I'll say it for the rest of my life,
Megan is the most de la awesome person in the universe. She's a writer, a
crafter, a reader, a music lover, basically an all around creative person.
Megan is one of the very few people who stand out as truly unique. This lady's
got some serious mad skillz. It's no wonder why she's the Cap'n of the ship!
My co-worker Sarah:
MEGAN REIGNER IS LIKE A PHONE
SHE LISTENS AND SPEAKS...AT TIMES IN A DULL TONE
PROCESSOR OF PAYROLL AND READER OF BOOKS
WRITER OF A ZINE, HOT POCKETS SHE COOKS
A DINOSAUR FAN AND CRISP CONNOISSEUR
FULL TIME MOM TO CLAY AIKEN
WHOSE COAT IS NOT UNLIKE VELOUR
SHE DRIVES A LONG WAY TO WORK
THOUGH IM NOT SO SURE WHY
IT COULD BE TO SEE ME,
CUZ TRUST ME IM FLY
My friend Maria:
Underestimates Her Awesomeness:
The True Story of Megan Regan
She doesn't like to get caught up in drama, but she won't judge you if you have
a bit of your own. She'll always listen and calms me down and tells my brain to
slow down. I know I can count on her, especially if I don't know what a word
means. She loves things that you'd never think exsisted, like little tiny
snails.
She's the most creative person I know, but she has chicken scratch handwriting.
She makes me want to make things, anything. She'll do that to anyone.
I think she beats people up over the phone for a living.
She can write a novel or story, really, she does.
She can take an awesome picture with an old school camera with a dying
battery.
She makes the best mix CDs and mix drinks.
She's not shy, she just doesn't have anything to say to you.
I think in a dream world shed be happy to just have her man by her side, a
mixed drink, good music, a laptop, and five cats by her side.
My Auntie Robin:
One word comes to mind when I think of Megan: Creative. No matter what she does
whether it be at work, spending time with friends and family, traveling and even
spending time with her animals she is being creative. There seems to be an
underlying determination to make sure she is having fun with all that she does
and finds a creative twist to what comes her way. This creativity does not get
in her with her excellent work ethic - she just seems to make the most of any
situation, while working hard.
My Dad:
What Megan does
One of the interesting things about what Megan does is the way she observes
things. She sees a lot of the thing that most of us either don’t see or take
for granted. She looks into the things that we may see as mundane and looks
beyond what they may appear to be to find the story in them. Megan then crafts
stories from those observations. Sometimes she uses those stories to mirror
reality and restate that reality but gets us to look deeper to visualize what
we all may have seen but not observed. When we realize what she has said in the
story we most likely say “that’s right but I never really looked at it that way
until now.” She tells stories for every purpose imaginable, sometimes to make
us smile, sometimes to make us think, sometimes to get a point across but
always provoking a response.
Me:
Pretty much.
